Keep the upload tab open until your file finishes uploading. Once transcription starts, JotSonic keeps working in the background.
1. Open your workspace
Sign in with Google to open your JotSonic workspace. Your recordings and transcripts live here, so you can return to them after signing in on another device.
Start with a short recording you know well, such as an interview, a meeting, or a voice memo. It makes your first review easier. New accounts start on the Free plan with 120 transcription minutes per month and up to 500 MB per file.
2. Upload an audio file
Click New transcript. Drop your recording into the upload area, or choose browse your files. JotSonic transcribes MP3, WAV, and FLAC files with Whisper large v3 turbo.
Check the selected file and the folder shown beside Saving to, then click Transcribe recording. The language is detected automatically; there is no language setting to choose in this dialog. Leave the tab open while the file uploads.
3. Let JotSonic do the typing
After uploading finishes, the recording moves through preparation, the queue, and transcription. During upload, each selected file shows its own progress and status in the upload dialog. If one fails, retry the failed files; completed uploads are kept. You can leave the page once the upload is complete. Open the recording again from your library to check its progress.
Processing time depends on the recording and the queue. If an error appears, read its message before retrying. A recording that exceeds your plan’s duration limit needs a shorter replacement file or a plan that supports its length.
4. Listen, review, and correct
When the transcript is ready, open it and click a word or timestamp to listen from that moment. Follow the highlighted text while the recording plays. Use Find in transcript to locate a name, phrase, or topic.
Choose Edit to correct the text or add speaker names. Click Save changes when you finish. Names, numbers, and specialist terms are good places to start your review, especially before sharing the transcript with someone else.
5. Export or share your transcript
Click Export to download text, a document, a spreadsheet, or subtitles. Choose Share if you want someone to read the transcript and listen to the recording through a link. Your recordings are private to your account until you create a share link. Read the sharing guide before sending a link to a sensitive conversation.
